Sam Jones Memorial UMC provides quality Christian educational and social experiences for children in a loving environment which enables them to become Disciples of Jesus Christ. Children of all ages have the opportunity to participate in many activities and ministries throughout the year.
Sunday School Enter into an exciting adventure of discipleship through our many educational opportunities. Sunday School classes for all ages are held at 9:45 a.m. For quick reference, please see the yellow cards found in the sanctuary pews (traditional services) or in the blue attendance folders (Celebration service).
Nursery Family Life Center, Rooms F-200 and F-202 Nurseries are open during church-wide events including Sunday School and Wednesday evening activities. Qualified, trained adults provide a warm, caring environment for infants (birth to one year old) and toddlers (children who are walking well) to those who are ready for preschool Sunday School. A paging system is available for interested parents. Children's Church Children's Church occurs at the 11:00 am worship service and is designed for children who are 3 years old through Kindergarten. Children of this age are encouraged to stay in worship through the Children's Sermon and then go with their leader to room F-203 until worship is over. Parents are strongly encouraged to keep children ages six years and up in worship for the entire service. 9:45 a.m. Children's Sunday School Our classes use either Cokesbury's Live B.I.G. ("Live Belief in God") Curriculum or curriculum designed by the teacher. Each class uses age-appropriate lessons that include Bible stories, crafts, games, music, and other activities. Please see below for room assignments. 3 year old Class Family Life Center, Room F-208 This class is designed to help three year olds transition from nursery to Sunday school and to learn the stories of the Bible. Story, music, crafts, and play are all a part of the class. Children must be potty-trained to be a part of this class.

Third Grade Bible Class Family Life Center, Room F-304 Fourth & Fifth Grade Class Family Life Center, F-302 Sixth Grade PUMP (Programs for United Methodist Preteens) Family Life Center, F-300 10:45 a.m. Transition Time ("Tween Time") Family Life Center, Room F-205 (age 3 - Kindergarten) Tween Time meets at 10:45 am and is designed for children whose parents go to worship 9:45 am and then go to Sunday School at 11:00 am. Children should be signed-in by parents at 10:45 am and picked up at 12:00 pm after Children's Church.
Wednesday Evening Activities Activities for children ages four through fifth grade occur every Wednesday during the school year from 6:00 - 7:00 pm (except on Ash Wednesday and the week of Spring Break). Our children will enjoy a celebration of music on Wednesday nights. Younger kids will spend time singing, playing, and trying out new instruments. Children in 3rd-5th grades will take part in a newly designed program that integrates music, puppets, and drama.

Infant and Toddler Nurseries: Family Life Center, Rooms F-200 and F-202 Nurseries are open during church-wide events including Sunday School and Wednesday evening activities. A paging system is available for parents.
After-hours childcare for children of all ages is also available on Wednesday nights for children whose parents are in choir or Bible study after 7pm.
